Only dye-sublimation technology can produce color output that approaches photographic quality. Enjoy the best in full-color printing with Mitsubishis CP-D1. The superiority of dye-sublimation over inkjet printing is clear at a glance: even when enlarged, this portrait printed by the CP-D1 exhibits continuous, realistic flesh tones. Color Printing for Perfectionists Superb quality with dye sublimation: 720 x 480 dots (149 dpi) With inkjet technology, the different colors are created by varying the distribution or density of the dots making up and image - a method not capable of reproducing fine tonal gradations. In contrast, the dots of a dye-sublimation printer are distributed evenly and this constant density enables consistent, continuous-tone printing. Digital images of detailed illustrations or photographs can thus be reproduced on paper with breathtaking clarity and fidelity. Photo-quality printing: 256 gradations for each primary color (YMC) The CP-D1 reproduces any digital image as a 720 x 480 matrix comprised of evenly distributed dots of ink, applied to the paper by thermal transfer of inks. Each dot is made up of a mixture of 3 primary colors - yellow, magenta and cyan - in varying combinations. There are 16.7 million possible combinations for every dot on the paper with 256 variations available per color. This infinitely rich palette is what enables full-color rendition. Even the finest nuances can be reproduced with great delicacy and accuracy. The perfect output device for
Compatible with Windows and Macintosh Computers The Mitsubishi CP-D1 comes with two interfaces - Centronics for Windows and QuickDraw compatible RS-422 serial for the Macintosh.
