Quality That’s Just Right

Only dye-sublimation technology can produce color output that approaches photographic quality. Enjoy the best in full-color printing with Mitsubishi’s CP-D1.

The superiority of dye-sublimation over inkjet printing is clear at a glance: even when enlarged, this portrait printed by the CP-D1 exhibits continuous, realistic flesh tones.

Color Printing for Perfectionists

Superb quality with dye sublimation: 720 x 480 dots (149 dpi)

With inkjet technology, the different colors are created by varying the distribution or density of the dots making up and image - a method not capable of reproducing fine tonal gradations. In contrast, the dots of a dye-sublimation printer are distributed evenly and this constant density enables consistent, continuous-tone printing. Digital images of detailed illustrations or photographs can thus be reproduced on paper with breathtaking clarity and fidelity.

Photo-quality printing: 256 gradations for each primary color (YMC)

The CP-D1 reproduces any digital image as a 720 x 480 matrix comprised of evenly distributed dots of ink, applied to the paper by thermal transfer of inks. Each dot is made up of a mixture of 3 primary colors - yellow, magenta and cyan - in varying combinations. There are 16.7 million possible combinations for every dot on the paper with 256 variations available per color. This infinitely rich palette is what enables full-color rendition. Even the finest nuances can be reproduced with great delicacy and accuracy.

The perfect output device for
Photo CD’s and Photoshop

The CP-D1 will output image data from a
Photo CD or graphics applications such as
Adobe Photoshop in vivid detail. Of course,
photographs taken with a digital camera can
be reproduced just like photographs. Other
possible uses include producing hard copy of
Web pages and other image data you come
across while surfing the Internet with your
Web browser.

Compatible with Windows and Macintosh Computers

The Mitsubishi CP-D1 comes with two interfaces - Centronics for Windows and QuickDraw compatible RS-422 serial for the Macintosh. You can change various settings with the respective drivers (supplied), including automatic Gamma correction and multiple copy output.

High printing speed: only 120 seconds per print

The CP-D1 can produce photo-quality prints on special coated paper (150 x 100mm/5 7/8 x 3 7/8 in.) at a rapid 120 sec./sheet - equivalent or faster than inkjet printers operating in high-quality mode.
