Color Photo-Realistic Printer

To turn your images into professional photo-realistic prints, first start with a Sony UP-D70AP Digital Color Printer. Then select your print media from Sony’s range of laminated, color and black and white print packs. This powerful combination provides the superior image quality demanded by those who work in portraiture professional photography, graphic design, multimedia production and other creative fields. The UP-D70AP is reliable, cost effective and produces prints that have a rich, photo-realistic quality.

Incorporating Sony dye sublimation printing technology, the UP-D70AP Digital Color Printer outputs photo-realistic quality prints that have over 16 million color variations. It gives natural continuous-tone images by combining the innovative PQC (Picture Quality Controller) for crisp image reproduction with easy gray balance adjustments and reliable, cost effective self lamination media.

The UP-D70AP outputs prints of portrait quality, when using the optional 220 micron thick self-laminating paper. This laminating layer provides extra protection from environmental factors such as ultra-violet rays or finger marks. Four types of finish are available with this unique Sony laminating process: Glossy, Texture, Non-glare and Matte.

Using the printed gray balance chart, the neutral gray color can be easily specified. The UP-D70AP distinguishes delicate gray colors and reproduces the color that is needed.

High speed bitmap data transfer via SCSI or Centronics interfaces is provided with the UP-D70AP. This configuration is suitable for printing hard copy images as well as graphics made with software such as Adobe Photoshop.  In this configuration, image data, including three-color information (RGB), can be transferred from a host computer to the expanded picture memory for rapid printing. Efficiency is enhanced with this configuration as the computer is free to perform other tasks once the data has been transferred to the printers memory.

The UP-D70AP is supplied with ICC (International Color Consortium) profiles on the accompanying CD-ROM disks and supports CMM (Color Matching Method). This means that the printed color can be simulated on the preview monitor.

The UP-D70AP can output prints onto both letter-size paper (UPC-741 - with an 8 x 10 inch image area) and letter-plus-size paper (UPC-747 - with an 8.5 x 11.7 inch image area).

Letter images are printed out in approximately 85 seconds in the 300 dpi mode and approximately 55 seconds in 150 dpi mode. Even when printing and laminating on self lamination paper in 300 dpi mode, the UP-D70AP produces prints in approximately 115 seconds

A detachable fan filter is provided to prevent dust particles form causing color spots on the output images.

To meet the growing needs for environmentally responsible, energy-efficient printers, the UP-D70AP easily meets the Energy Star program. When the UP-D70AP is in its stand-by mode, it consumes less than 30 W.
